Our course guides children aged 8–12 through playful exploration of drawing and painting with watercolors, acrylics, pastels, pens, markers, and even collage materials like old magazines. Along the way, we discover the worlds of artists from Paul Cézanne and Sonia Delaunay to Yayoi Kusama, Keith Haring, and many others, while also experimenting with themes such as emotions, nature, and even outer space.
Painting allows children to convey ideas, use their senses, explore color, processes, and outcomes, creating beautiful works and experiences. It helps them express feelings through colors, lines, shapes, textures—even through making a mess. Painting is also calming, promoting inner peace. Children learn to control brushes and tools, improving eye-hand coordination by focusing not only on the tool or its placement but the space between.
Psychology shows that until age 11, playfulness and motivation are key, as children of this age often struggle with volume and spatial concepts. Therefor here we focus on experimenting with techniques and coordination to prepare them for more conscious work on composition and academic drawing in senior groups further.
